My story

I’m Julia, a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with over 15 years of experience. I graduated from the University of Sydney in 2008 and went back for my Masters in Health Science in 2019 — because apparently I can’t stop studying how people communicate.

I started Clearer Speech in 2012 after years of working with professionals who had everything going for them except one thing: people were focusing on how they spoke instead of what they said.

These were smart, qualified, experienced people — doctors, engineers, lawyers, executives — getting passed over for promotions, being asked to repeat themselves in meetings, losing confidence every time they picked up the phone. Not because their English was bad. Because their pronunciation didn’t match what Australian ears expected to hear.

That frustrated me. It still does.

So I built programs that actually teach people how Australian English pronunciation works — not just “repeat after me,” but the whole system. How stress creates rhythm. How sounds connect. Where the melody goes. Why some sounds matter more than others.

Everything I create is based on what I’ve seen work in the clinic with real people, over 15 years and thousands of sessions. No guesswork. No internet trends. Just what actually changes how you sound.
